Abhishek Nayar makes me proud, Parnell gets me worried

The first tour match is underway, with tomorrow being the last day. This one has not been adjudged the status of a first class match, and now you can understand why.

[Score Card]

Most of the Indian batting line-up failed. For those who are interested to know, Rohit Sharma, Manish Pandey and Cheteshwar Pujara scored 20, 43 and 17 respectively. BPXI was reduced to 114-6, when Shikhar and Abhishek Nayar got together to save them the blushes and stayed together for the next 181 runs. Shikhar returned after that at an individual score of 70 while Nayar rewarded himself with a 100, hopefully creating some in roads in the minds of the selectors.

But these are not the players who will be involved in the test series between Indian and South Africa. Parnell and Morkel will. Ironically, two players I missed naming in the preview post.

Both these bowlers took 3 wickets each, and that is what worries me. Although, I agree that most of these players are new to international cricket teams, and the Indian team is not, a bowler with wickets in his bag should be feared. These wickets, while they will not be counted in statistics, will make a huge difference to his confidence and this confidence could prove detrimental for the opposition.

But the worries can take a backseat. Abhishek Nayar, a Mumbai Indian, has made me proud. After all, Mumbai Indians - Suno Toh Kuch Hota Hai!

4 runs off this stroke!:

  2. thanks sp...

yes nayar is in good touch, i think he played in the ranji final as well, if my memory serves me right...

well he could very well be knocking the door all the time, though i think that cheeka and mahi prefer non mumbaikars more!

lol, i just realise shiv sena could pick this up against the southie and the one from jharkand (previously bihar)

    calls for a post probably!
